Although this beach borders a tropical forest, it is very well visited by tourists because of its beautiful views of the Gulf of Nicoya and the nearby islands. Playa Bajo Negro is located near the Playa Naranjo ferry landing, and about 30 minutes from La Guaria.

Located between Playa Bajo Negro and Playa Blanca is a white sand beach popular with local fishermen. It is situated in front of Sugarloaf Island which is abundant with shell fish and sea bass. A great place to spend a quiet day with few people.

Playa Blanca lives up to its name with the whitest sand found on the southern Nicoya Peninsula. It is a small beach, popular with locals with very calm seas and good restaurants.

Organos Beach is located 5 kms from the village of Paquera and about 3 kms from the ferry terminal Paquera-Puntarenas. This beach is very beautiful with gray sand, and is ideal for swimming. The coast is lined with a large number of coconut trees and only a shack or two on the beach, otherwise it is completely undeveloped and pristine.
There are fun bodysurfing waves here and a great view of Isla Tortuga in front.

This beach is a few kilometers north from Paquera on the road to Playa Naranjo. It is one of the beaches that has very little waves so it is safe for swimming.
The light gray sand contrasts with the blue waters and its several islands in front for a spectacular setting. The beach is surrounded by tropical forest and in front of it is a group of protected islands called Islas Pajaros.

This beach is part of Ballena Bay and very suitable for swimming because there are almost no waves. The sand varies from white to light gray and its waters are crystal clear. Near the beach are offices that sell tours for fishing, diving, and snorkeling. On the beach you will find the five star Hotel Barcelo Playa Tambor.

Curú has a nice beach with fine gray sand and small waves. At low tide is about 35-50 meters wide and its total length is about 900 mts. These characteristics, together with the inland National Reserve make it a wonderful place for a family outing for the whole day. At one end of the beach there are two small beaches which are Quesera and Playa Poza Colorada. Both have white sand due to coral growing on the sea in crystal clear waters.

Montezuma is a white sand beach with clear water and rock formations in the small gaps that form when the tide is low. It is ideal for swimming, diving, kayaking, surfing, or simply to enjoy its magnificent sunsets. Montezuma is a beach paradise, famous for its natural beauty and gathering place for artistic types from all around the world. It has several waterfalls, one with a drop of more than 15 meters. Below are pools for a swim in the midst of lush vegetation. There is much to offer in this small pueblo.

These are among the most famous beaches in Costa Rica for surfing and beachcombing. Mal Pais is about one hour from Paquera on good roads, most of them paved. You can get there easily by car, bus, taxi, or even bicycle. There are several restaurants, hotels, gift stores and, of course, surf shops in the area.
Be sure to stay for the best sunsets on the coast.

This is one of the islands that is closest to Paquera. Isla Tortuga is one of the most visited and well known islands of this area. You can enjoy its beautiful white sand beach and all its clear waters, which make it one of the best places in Costa Rica to snorkel or dive. There are delicious snacks and souvenir shopping available on the beach as well.
